Broom

It is always cheerful to see a broom with it’s beautiful yellow flowers.

This plant has no thorns like gorse but the blossoms look pretty much the same.
It’s twigs were once used to make brooms and I guess some people still do it.

The flowers and other parts have been used medicinal and if you want to know more about it please click here or just Google

I am always amazed how this gorgeous flowers form into a long seedpod.

Since I am still recovering and can’t think clearly (headache) I just let the pictures speak…
I made the pics a few weeks ago while I was examining my flowers in a vase.
They tell the story how a pod forms…
Hope you enjoy…

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell that the fresh blossoms tastes like raw peas! Guess some flowers in a bean salad would be a summer / spring hit
lovely to meet you today, and hope the plants survived the drive home without any water! (oops!!) Would gorse flowers be similar to broom flowers in taste? we sure have enough of it growing around the place, would be good if it’s good for something!
No worries about the plants, they are already in my potted garden and look fine
My husband especially made a hurray jump when he discovered the big lovage
I haven’t bite into a gorse flower so don’t know how it tastes, but I saw a man cooking (or better said baking) at ‘sunrise’ or the ‘good morning show’ (Can’t quite remember it’s a while since I used to learn English by the help of TV)
He made a butter cake recipe (look up in Edmonds) and added 2 cups dried gorse flowers. The woman at his side wasn’t pleased of the flowers smell but loved the taste of the finished cake…
What I have made with the gorse flower buds are capers. Just make them like the daisy capers on my link (Daisy capers)
Have fun and come by later to find the post about your garden
